Blogger is the second best CMS; it is very easy to use and is owned by Google; you don't need hosting with blogger because Google has made hosting free with their CMS; all you need to create a professional looking blog on blogger is a domain name and a premium theme; let me show you how to do so in less than 20 minutes.
1. Create a blog.
Setting up your blog with blog is straightforward; simply open a new tab on your computer and type blogger.com; when the website eventually loads, follow the on-screen instructions.
To get started, click Create Your Blog, and then sign in with your Gmail account. You must have a Gmail account to build a blog on Blogger, as the blogging platform is owned by Google.
And, as you may know, all Google tools are accessible through Google's gmail, so sign in with your gmail. Next, you will be asked to choose a domain name; type any name you want; if someone else has already taken the domain name you want, you will see a message stating so.
But you should pick anything obscure because we'll alter it later; if you look attentively, you'll find a blogspot.com at the end of the list.
This is because Google is giving you the domain for free, and this is the primary reason why you should get your own custom domain name, since if you don't, blogspot.com will be appended to your domain name, which is not ideal for a professional blog.
So, to speed up the process, you can add numbers to whatever you type into the space, then click next and choose from the free themes they offer. Once you've chosen a free theme, your blog is now ready.
Now you'll be transported to the dashboard, where you'll be able to manage your blog's appearance and the content you publish, as well as monitor your stats on the left.
Now that you've had a look at your blog, you'll note that it appears to be extremely basic and amateur; it's time to give it a professional makeover.
2. Get a domain name
To make your blog look professional, you'll need to purchase a domain name from namecheap, which I recommend. Go to namecheap now and create a free account; after that, all you have to do is confirm the email address you used to create the account, and you're good to go.
After you've created your free namecheap account, go to namecheap.com and sign in with your user name and password. You'll notice an empty editable space on the website where you can enter a domain name of your choice, which can be anything from your name to something brandable.
After entering the name, click search, and if the domain hasn't been taken, you'll get a check mark, followed by the price, which can range from $8.88 to almost $80 per year.
Now you'll see a variety of extensions such as.com,.net,.co, and so on. The best ones are.com and.net, so pick one of those and proceed to checkout, pay for the domain name, and you're done.
3. Invest in a theme
You should buy a premium theme to give your blog a professional and very beautiful look. When you buy a premium theme, you will have full rights to use it however you want; you can also resell it to others and profit from it because you own it.
Go to Gooyabi Templates and click on Responsive Templates. You will be taken to a marketplace of themes after clicking on Responsive Templates. Scroll down to choose the theme that best suits you and click on it.
After selecting your desired theme, click the "Buy" button to be led to an order page where you must provide your email address to receive the theme after purchase.
Then enter your credit card information, then click "pay" to pay for the theme. You will be charged, and your theme will arrive in less than 5 minutes. You can then proceed to install the theme on your blog.
4. Make your blog unique.
Now that your blog is up and running, it's time to apply the theme and domain name to it. To begin, go to your email and download the theme you purchased to your computer; you'll notice that it's a zip file.
Right click on it and click extract files, this will unzip the file, after this, you will see and xml file, that is the theme that you are going to be using as your theme, now go to your blogger dashboard and click on theme, after clicking on theme, click on the dropdown arrow and select restore
When you click restore, you'll be taken to your computer, where you can find the theme and select the xml file. This will load the page, and once it's loaded, you'll be able to apply the theme to your blog.
Now you must replace the default theme with your own logo. To do so, go to your blog dashboard, select "Layout," then "Header Logo," delete the current logo, and upload a logo from your computer.
If you don't already have one, you can get one for $5 on Fiverr or Upwork. After you've installed a nice-looking theme, you can go ahead and link your domain to your blog.
Go to your blogger dashboard and find the settings option, then scroll down to the publishing area and select custom domain.
Enter "www.yourdomain.com" and save; you'll get an error warning in red with a few texts; leave it there and go to your Namecheap account and click on your dashboard; you'll find your domain name; click "manage" to handle it.
Then, under "Advanced DNS," you'll see two A records and one CNAME record; substitute "yourdomain.com" with ghs.google.com, which you saw on Blogger when trying to link your domain name; then, under "Add New Record," select CNAME.
And then copy and paste the second code you were provided by Blogger into the first empty place, and then copy and paste the longest code you were given by Blogger into the next empty spot, then reload the namecheap page.
After that, return to Blogger, wait about 4 minutes, and save again; you will not see any errors this time, and the file will be saved properly.
Now that you've added your professional domain to your blogger blog, there's one more thing you need to do. Right now, when you open your blog, you'll see a message warning you that it's not safe. This is because the blog is now being viewed using the non-HTTPS protocol. Don't worry, we'll fix it in less than 2 minutes.
Return to your Namecheap dashboard and click "Manage" next to your domain, then "Manage DNS," where you will delete the first two records that were present before applying the first two codes provided by Blogger.
You should delete them by clicking the rubbish bucket next to them, but be careful not to delete the ones you uploaded previously.
Choose "A records" from the red "Add records" link, and type "@" in the first empty space, and "216.239.32.21" in the second empty area.
Add another A record and repeat the process, but this time use the numbers "216.239.36.21" instead of "216.239.36.21." You'll enter the last one after this one, and this time, instead of "216.239.38.21," you'll enter "216.239.38.21."
After you've completed these steps, refresh the page and wait a few moments before returning to your blogger dashboard and going to the settings option, finding the publishing section and enabling HTTPS, then refreshing the page and you're done. Now you can view your blog and see how professional it looks with a beautiful theme and your custom domain name.
